One undeniable advantage of replacement laptop batteries is their low price – these products start at around eighty PLN including tax. Unfortunately, the low price comes with numerous drawbacks. The main issues concern the quality of the cells used in the battery and the electronics, that is, the controller responsible for its proper operation.
The electronics in replacement batteries are usually clones of the original controller, but they are often missing essential safety protections, which can lead to problems with safety and compatibility. Controllers in such batteries are often only partially programmed, meaning that replacements may not be recognized by laptops. The cause is communication errors between the device’s BIOS and the battery controller – so-called integrity errors.
Moreover, replacement batteries cannot be effectively regenerated – the controllers used in them, most often based on ATmega systems, are password-protected (sometimes in Chinese characters), which prevents access and reprogramming. This is the main reason why regenerating such batteries is impossible.

In addition, replacement batteries generally have lower capacity – for example, an original battery may have a capacity of 5200 mAh, while a replacement offers only 4400 mAh.
